Osteopathic Manipulation

What is Osteopathic Manipulation?

It is a treatment where our hands are used to diagnose, treat and prevent illness or injury. It focuses on addressing the tissues, muscles, bones and joints through stretching, gentle pressure and resistance.

What is a Doctor of Osteopathy?

Doctors of Osteopathy, or D.O.s, are one of the two medical professions in the U.S. that have a full medical license (the other being M.D.s).

Osteopathic physicians are highly trained in diagnosis of the human body through palpation and use this skill to diagnose structural problems and abnormalities involving the whole body. These treatments are unlike any other form of treatment. They are usually gentle and work with the body as a whole and help patients overcome their illnesses.

Who can be helped by Osteopathic Manipulation?

In our office we focus our scope of treatment to concerns in the head and neck regions. In these areas we treat neck pain, headaches, TMJ pain and facial pain. We also work side by side with other local D.O.s who effectively treat the back, ribs, extremities and sequelae of trauma and accidents.

What is Cranial Osteopathy and what does it mean?

Believe it or not, the bones of the head and neck have an inherent motion, even in older adults. Common problems in these area may manifest as headaches, ringing in the ears, dizziness, jaw pain, and recent onset trigeminal pain.
